This document presents the findings of a study that explores the use of an evolutionary strategy algorithm for learning multiple linear regression models in time series forecasting. The study focuses on predicting the value of currency pairs and foreign tourist visits. The researchers used the algorithm to optimize the coefficient values in the regression model and measured forecasting errors using Mean Square Error and Mean Absolute Percentage Deviation. The results indicate that the algorithm produced a model with small error values, suggesting its effectiveness in accurate exchange rate predictions. The study emphasizes the significance of precise exchange rate forecasts and the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on various aspects of the economy. Additionally, the study examines the influence of different parameters on the algorithm's performance, such as the number of individuals in the population, the size of sliding windows, the number of offspring produced, and the number of iterations. The results demonstrate that the evolutionary strategy algorithm outperformed the Least Square method in terms of error values. Furthermore, the study reveals that increasing the number of generations led to higher fitness values. [Extracted from the article]

This document presents the findings of a study on the magnetic properties of copper-doped zinc oxide (Cu-ZnO) nanocrystals. The researchers discovered that at low levels of copper doping, the nanocrystals exhibited room temperature ferromagnetic ordering, despite the absence of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) signals. At higher levels of doping, EPR signals characteristic of isolated Cu2+ ions were observed, indicating the presence of long-range ferromagnetic ordering. The study also found that the narrow near band edge luminescence observed in Cu-doped ZnO nanocrystals supports the existence of coupled (Cu1+, h) - (Cu2+) states. [Extracted from the article]

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to answer the research question: What factors predict sense of belonging among nurses? The connection between inclusion (an element of diversity and equity) and a nurse's sense of belonging is poorly understood. METHODS: In this mixed-methods research, regression analysis of Climate for Inclusion Scale subscales and Sense of Belonging score plus thematic content analysis of questions assessing sense of belonging were conducted. Nurses (n = 131) attending a research conference in June to July 2022 were invited to participate; 131 (72%) participated. RESULTS: Climate for Inclusion Scale was positively associated with and predictive of sense of belonging (F 3,113 = 71.7, P < 0.001). Themes reflecting actions to enhance sense of belonging were as follows: authentic leadership, embracing social justice, team unification, feeling heard, being seen, professional development, developing a healthier work environment, and integration of differences. CONCLUSIONS: Leaders can promote a sense of belonging among nurses by focusing on actions reflected in the themes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Present analysis of the federal and state regulations that guide The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) operations and core clinical features for direction on behavioral health (BH). Review and synthesize the federal (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services [CMS]) and all publicly available state manuals according to the BH–Serious Illness Care (SIC) model domains. The 155 PACE organizations operating in 32 states and the District of Columbia. A multipronged search was conducted to identify official state and federal manuals guiding the implementation and functions of PACE organizations. The CMS PACE website was used to identify the federal PACE manual. State-level manuals for 32 states with PACE programs were identified through several sources, including official PACE websites, contacts through official websites, the National PACE Association (NPA), and public and academic search engines. The manuals were searched according to the BH-SIC model domains that pertain to integrating BH care with complex care individuals. According to the CMS Manual, the interdisciplinary team is responsible for holistic care of PACE enrollees, but a BH specialist is not a required member. The CMS Manual includes information on BH clinical functions, BH workforce, and structures for outcome measurement, quality, and accountability. Eight of 32 PACE-participating states offer publicly available state PACE manuals; of which 3 offer information on BH clinical functions. Regarding BH, federal and state manual regulations establish limited guidance for comprehensive care service delivery at PACE organizations. The absence of clear directives weakens BH care delivery due to a limiting the ability to develop quality measures and accountability structures. This hinders incentivization and accountability to truly all-inclusive care. Clearer guidelines and regulatory parameters regarding BH care at federal and state levels may enable more PACE organizations to meet rising BH demands of aging communities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: To determine the overall rate of publication of abstracts presented at the 2016 to 2019 Canadian Association of Radiology Annual Scientific Meeting (CAR ASM), with an emphasis on gender and racial diversity. Methods: Abstracts from publicly available past programs were analyzed using PubMed, EMBASE, and Google Scholar for publication status, time to publication (TTP), author affiliation, and journal of publication. Past programs were used to determine the abstract format, abstract category, and the subspecialty and imaging modalities explored. First author demographics were identified using the Namsor software. Results: Four hundred and sixty-two abstract presentations were included in the analysis with an overall conversion rate of 34.63%. Two hundred and ninety-two (63.2%) of the first-authors were male-identified, of which 104 (35.62%) were published. In contrast, 170 (36.8%) were female-identified, of which 56 (32.94%) were published. Additionally, 50.87% first-authors were identified as white, 38.31% asian, 6.06% black, 4.76% latino, and 0.00% indigenous. While diversity was seen in demographics, 60% of publications had a white first-author. The following conversion rates were found: 40.85% white, 30.51% asian, 25% black, and 13.64% latino. In terms of abstract category, radiologist-in-training had the highest conversion rate at 60.71%. The median TTP was 14 months, with an average impact factor of 5.26. Conclusion: Less than half of abstracts at the 2016 to 2019 CAR ASM were published and both gender and racial disparities in relation to conversion rates were identified. Measures to improve publication rates and overall diversity in Radiology are warranted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article places the 'rise of Arminianism' in the context of changing state policies towards English Catholics at the European dynastic conjuncture of the early 1620s. Through an examination of theological conferences held across 1622–3, it is suggested that both Arminianism and the controversy it engendered were competitive responses from within the Church of England to counter a reversionary Catholic interest. These conferences provided the immediate context for Richard Montague's tracts of 1624–5, the response to which is considered in terms of conflicting conceptualizations of the character of the Church of England and its relationship to the Church of Rome. Background: Despite advances in temporomandibular disorders' (TMDs) diagnosis, the diagnostic process continues to be problematic in non‐specialist settings. Objective: To complete a Delphi process to shorten the Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (DC/TMD) to a brief DC/TMD (bDC/TMD) for expedient clinical diagnosis and initial management. Methods: An international Delphi panel was created with 23 clinicians representing major specialities, general dentistry and related fields. The process comprised a full day workshop, seven virtual meetings, six rounds of electronic discussion and finally an open consultation at a virtual international symposium. Results: Within the physical axis (Axis 1), the self‐report Symptom Questionnaire of the DC/TMD did not require shortening from 14 items for the bDC/TMD. The compulsory use of the TMD pain screener was removed reducing the total number of Axis 1 items by 18%. The DC/TMD Axis 1 10‐section examination protocol (25 movements, up to 12 sets of bilateral palpations) was reduced to four sections in the bDC/TMD protocol involving three movements and three sets of palpations. Axis I then resulted in two groups of diagnoses: painful TMD (inclusive of secondary headache), and common joint‐related TMD with functional implications. The psychosocial axis (Axis 2) was shortened to an ultra‐brief 11 item assessment. Conclusion: The bDC/TMD represents a substantially reduced and likely expedited method to establish (grouping) diagnoses in TMDs. This may provide greater utility for settings requiring less granular diagnoses for the implementation of initial treatment, for example non‐specialist general dental practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Right C-restriction semigroups are the common generalizations of right C-rpp semigroups and right C-lpp semigroups. The structure of such a semigroup is established in terms of the Δ -product of a right regular band and a C-restriction semigroup. As its applications, we give the structures of right C-rpp semigroups and right C-lpp semigroups. Also, we give the dual wreath product structure of right C-restriction semigroups. The rapid growth of clean energy technologies is driving a rising demand for critical minerals. In 2022 at the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15), seven major economies formed an alliance to enhance the sustainability of mining these essential decarbonization minerals. However, there is a scarcity of studies assessing the threat of mining to global biodiversity. By integrating a global mining dataset with great ape density distribution, we estimated the number of African great apes that spatially coincided with industrial mining projects. We show that up to one-third of Africa's great ape population faces mining-related risks. In West Africa in particular, numerous mining areas overlap with fragmented ape habitats, often in high-density ape regions. For 97% of mining areas, no ape survey data are available, underscoring the importance of increased accessibility to environmental data within the mining sector to facilitate research into the complex interactions between mining, climate, biodiversity, and sustainability. In this essay, the author reflects on a decade's old essay on baseball and bioethics inspired by a conversation with the late David Thomasma. In a reprise of his earlier paper, Fins worries that modernity has come to baseball with the advent of the pitch clock and that this innovation brings age discrimination to a timeless pastime. Background: Cocreation has the potential to engage people with lived and living experiences in the design and evaluation of health and social services. However, guidance is needed to better include people from equity‐deserving groups (EDGs), who are more likely to face barriers to participation, experience ongoing or historical harm, and benefit from accessible methods of engagement. Objective: The aim of this international forum (CoPro2022) was to advance a collective vision for equity‐based cocreation. Design: A participatory process of engagement in experiential colearning and arts‐based creative and reflective dialogue. Visual prototypes were created and synthesised to generate a collective vision for inclusive equity‐based cocreation. Setting and Participants: The Forum was held at the Gathering Place by the Grand River in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada. A total of 48 participants attended the forum. They were purposely invited and have intersecting positionalities (21 academic experts, six experience experts, 10 trainees, and 11 members of EDGs) from nine countries (Bangladesh, Botswana, Canada, England, Italy, Norway, Scotland, Singapore, Sweden). CoPro2022 Activities: CoPro2022 was an immersive experience hosted on Indigenous land that encouraged continuous participant reflection on their own worldviews and those of others as participants openly discussed the challenges and opportunities with engaging EDGs in cocreation activities. Visual prototypes and descriptions created in small groups were informed by participants' reflections on the panel presentations at the Forum and their own experiences with equity‐based cocreation. Following the event, the authorship team inductively coded themes from the prototype descriptions and met to discuss the cross‐cutting themes. These informed the design of an illustrated collective vision for Equity Based Co‐Creation (EqCC). Results: Six prototypes were cocreated by each small group to illustrate their vision for EqCC. Within these, four cross‐cutting themes were identified: (i) go to where people are, (ii) nurture relationships and creativity, (iii) reflect, replenish and grow, (iv) and promote thriving and transformation. These four themes are captured in the Collective EqCC Vision to guide a new era of inclusive excellence in cocreation activities. Patient or Public Contribution: Service users, caregivers, and people with lived experience were involved in leading the design of the CoPro2022 and co‐led the event. This included activities at the event such as presenting, facilitating small and large group discussion, leading art‐based activities, and reflecting with the team on the lessons learned. People with lived experience were involved in the analysis and knowledge sharing from this event. Several members of the research team (students and researchers) also identified as members of EDGs and were invited to draw from their personal and academic knowledge. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The field of retroviral integration research has a long history that started with the provirus hypothesis and subsequent discoveries of the retroviral reverse transcriptase and integrase enzymes. Because both enzymes are essential for retroviral replication, they became valued targets in the effort to discover effective compounds to inhibit HIV-1 replication. In 2007, the first integrase strand transfer inhibitor was licensed for clinical use, and subsequently approved second-generation integrase inhibitors are now commonly co-formulated with reverse transcriptase inhibitors to treat people living with HIV. International meetings specifically focused on integrase and retroviral integration research first convened in 1995, and this paper is part of the Viruses Special Issue on the 7th International Conference on Retroviral Integration, which was held in Boulder Colorado in the summer of 2023. Herein, we overview key historical developments in the field, especially as they pertain to the development of the strand transfer inhibitor drug class. Starting from the mid-1990s, research advancements are presented through the lens of the international conferences. Our overview highlights the impact that regularly scheduled, subject-specific international meetings can have on community-building and, as a result, on field-specific collaborations and scientific advancements. Aims: In 2019, the Australian Academy of Science in collaboration with the nutrition community published the decadal plan for the science of nutrition. This article aims to review progress towards each of its pillar goals (societal determinants, nutrition mechanisms, precision and personalised nutrition, and education and training) and two enabling platforms (a national data capability and a trusted voice for nutrition science), prioritise actions, and conceptualise program logic implementation models. This process also brought together public health nutrition researchers to reflect on societal determinants of health, and advise how the next 5 years of the decadal plan could reflect contemporary issues. Methods: Two engagement events, in 2023, brought together experienced and mid‐ and early‐career nutrition professionals for co‐creation of implementation logic models. Results: One hundred and nine early and mid‐career professionals were involved. A revised model for the decadal plan pillars emerged from synthesis of all logic models. This new model integrated the precision and personalised nutrition pillar with nutrition mechanisms pillar. These combined pillars build towards the national data capability enabling platform and created new cross‐cutting themes for education and training. The need arose for greater focus on respectful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and sustained effort to build cross‐disciplinary collaboration to realise the plan's societal determinants goals. A new alliance for nutrition science is proposed to become a unified advocacy voice and build trust in nutrition professionals. Conclusions: A programmatic approach provides a road map for implementing the decadal plan for the final 5 years. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article aims to investigate the structures of 935 conferences organised by OMICS and 296 conferences organised by WASET from 2015 through 2017. These conferences are characterised in existing literature as so-called predatory or questionable conferences that provide low-quality academic meetings. We analyse 40,224 presenters, focusing on top-ranked institutions according to three global university ranking systems (Academic Ranking of World Universities, Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and QS World University Rankings). Our analysis shows that participants in OMICS events were primarily researchers from the United States, India, the United Kingdom, and China. WASET attracted more researchers from Turkey, India, and South Korea. We found that 11.0% of OMICS and 5.7% of WASET presenters were affiliated with institutions ranked in the top 100 in one of the three aforementioned rankings. We also found that both companies mostly organised conferences in cities that were top tourist destinations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
